Are you ready to elevate your data and AI knowledge? The Data Lab has announced a unique opportunity for organisations based in the Highlands and Islands region to access online course bundles in data leadership and essential data and AI skills.

We are offering funding for two exclusive bundles for learners in the region.

Leadership Essentials Bundle

Embark on a transformative learning journey with our Leadership Essentials online course bundle. This exclusive bundle is designed to empower individuals and organisations to harness the full potential of data. It is essential learning for leaders and team members who play a strategic role within an organisation.

The programme includes:

  1. Driving Value from Data (20 hours, 4 weeks)
    • Discover growth opportunities presented by data.
    • Champion data as a business opportunity.
    • Gain confidence in adding value through effective data use.
    • Cultivate a culture of ethical data use.
  2. People Power Data (14 hours, 3 weeks)
    • Define skills requirements.

Basic Concepts Bundle

Equip yourself for success in the world of data with our comprehensive Basic Concepts online courses. This bundle is tailor-made for current and aspiring data and AI workers to covers the fundamentals needed to collect, store, manage and analyse data in your role. The programme includes:

  1. Data Management Fundamentals (14 hours, 3 weeks)
    • Learn effective data management from the ground up.
    • Emphasise data quality, security, and ethics.
    • Understand the role of data management in a data-driven world.
  2. Big Data (10 hours, 2 weeks)
    • Delve into the theoretical and practical aspects of Big Data.
    • Explore applications in business, society, and science.
  3. Data Security (10 hours, 2 weeks)
    • Understand legal and ethical obligations related to data.
    • Learn to protect against data security breaches.

*The award of free access to these online courses is publicly funded and therefore will constitute a state funded subsidy where the organisation receiving free access to the courses is classed as an “enterprise” under the Subsidy Control Act 2022. The Subsidy Control Act 2022 permits enterprises to lawfully receive subsidies up to a total value of £315,000 over the period consisting of the elapsed part of the current financial year, and the two financial years immediately preceding the current financial year period (the “Minimum Financial Assistance Cap”).  

Where an organisation awarded free access to the online courses is an enterprise under the Subsidy Control Act 2022, the organisation will be required to confirm that its receipt of such benefit shall not cause it (together with any organisation forming part of the same enterprise) to exceed the Minimum Financial Assistance Cap. The maximum value of the online bundles which will be awarded to any individual organisation is £2,000.

Codes must be redeemed and individuals enrolled by the 29th of February 2024. Applications will be selected based on eligibility and on a first come first serve basis.
